Book my pre-winter checkWhy now
The first cold night is the worst time to find out.
All summer your chimney sat open to birds, squirrels, leaves and rain. Creosote from last season is still on the flue walls, and creosote is what starts chimney fires. Light the first fire without a look and you find out the hard way: smoke in the living room, or worse.
So we sweep the flue, check the cap, crown and flashing, and hand you photos of all of it with a straight answer about what actually needs doing. Then you light the fire and enjoy the room.
The pre-winter check
Four things cause most of the trouble we find in the fall.
Every one of them is cheaper to catch now than in January.
- Creosote buildup from a long, heavy burning season
- Freeze-thaw cracking in crowns, mortar and brick
- Animal nests and debris after the off-season
- Missing or rusted caps letting in rain and snow

Frequently asked
Questions we get before the visit.
How much does a chimney sweep cost?
$229 for a Level 1 chimney sweep and inspection, with photos you keep. A camera scan of the flue is a $199 add-on. If we spot a problem, you get a straight answer about what it means and what it costs.
Why does my chimney leak when it rains?
Usually the cap, the crown, or the flashing where the chimney meets the roof. We check all three during the sweep and show you photos of what we find.
Do I need a sweep if I barely use my fireplace?
Yes. Nests, debris and creosote build up whether you burn often or not, and NFPA 211 calls for a chimney inspection every year. Book before the first cold night.
