Request local serviceWhy local context matters
Ohio winters are hard on a chimney.
A long burning season means creosote builds up fast, and creosote is what starts chimney fires. Then the freeze-thaw cycles go to work on the masonry: water gets into the crown and the mortar, freezes, expands, and opens the cracks a little wider every winter.
So we sweep the flue, and we check the weather side of the system while we're there. You get photos of both and a straight answer about what actually needs doing, so you can light the fire and enjoy the room.

What we're actually looking for in an east Cincinnati home.
Four things cause most of the chimney trouble we find in southwest Ohio.
- Creosote buildup from a long, heavy burning season
- Freeze-thaw cracking in crowns, mortar and brick
- Animal nests and debris after the off-season

Frequently asked
Questions we get before the visit.
How much does a chimney sweep cost in Cincinnati?
$249 for a Level 1 chimney sweep and inspection. Through October 31 it's $199 — $50 off. If we spot a problem, you get photos and a straight answer about what it means.
Why does my chimney leak when it rains?
Usually the cap, the crown, or the flashing where the chimney meets the roof. In Ohio, freeze-thaw cracking is the most common cause. We check all three during the sweep and show you photos of what we find.
Do I need a sweep if I barely use my fireplace?
Yes. Nests, debris and creosote build up whether you burn often or not, and NFPA 211 calls for a chimney inspection every year. Book before the first cold night.
